Nerdfighters at Castilleja

Did  you see the snowmen at the glass doors this morning? Were you as filled with the spontaneous, random-act-of-kindness joy of the season as I was?

I’m not sure who the Nerdfighters around here are, but I know who they got their inspiration from: John and Hank Green.

John Green is an author who writes excellent books for young adults, including:

An Abundance of Katherines, Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns, and Will Grayson, Will Grayson, all available at Casti Library.

John Green’s award-winning books are must-reads for literate teens. And they feature some very clever pranking, especially Looking for Alaska.

OK, but what does this have to do with Nerdfighters?

Author John Green and his brother Hank Green are the Nerdfighters. They publish great videos on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/vlogbrothers) and they have a website on Palo Alto-based Ning (http://nerdfighters.ning.com/), where they “fight to increase awesome and decrease suck.”

If you want to find out more, come check out some of John Green’s books, and snoop around on his websites. In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for Casti’s own merry pranksters–I think they’d make John and Hank proud!
