All readers should select books based on their personal taste, interests, and reading level. The Castilleja Library offers the following tools to help you select the right books for you:
- The library catalog includes a special feature called TitlePeek. Once you are looking at the record for a particular title, you can click on the book cover to see a page with a summary, author biography, and a variety of editorial reviews, which recommend a grade or age level. We recommend School Library Journal as a reliable source for grade ranges. (Look below to watch a short video about how to use TitlePeek.)
- The library’s Pinterest account has annotated reading recommendations, which always include a recommended grade level.
- Our Recommended Pleasure Reading List also includes a suggested grade range for each title.
- Need more recommendations? The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) Teen Book Finder is a free app that allows you to search for books that have been selected for one of the organization’s many awards or booklists. You can download it via the App Store.
